Description
Revolution of Eris or Proserpine
It is true that for the Mythology the Planet Eris impersonates the Contention and Discord but, the contrasts and the Contraposition of Opposites, are the Origin of Life itself and the perpetuation of the same. Therefore, such contrasts, harmonized, lead inevitably to Ataraxia, to the peace of Body and Mind, to the quietness of the Soul.
Eris, the astrological Paredra of Pluto, for Hesiod, in his Theogony, is one of the Primordial Forces that generated Nyx, the Night. And in turn she generated her children as abstractions: Ponos, the Penalty, Lete, the Oblivion, Limos, the Hunger, Algos, the Sorrows.
Homer sketches a realistic picture, quotes: “…a small thing, at the beginning…” that expands to “…advancing with great stride on the earth, with the head that reaches to hit the skies…“, attributing her the appellative of “Lady of the pain“.
Aesop narrates that Heracles learns from Athena who warns the hero of the aporia that holds the Goddess: “The more you fight her, the more she becomes imposing, transmoding“.
In the Works and Days, Hesiod, makes a distinction also dichotomous. The Eris daughter of Nyx, funereal, pernicious and deleterious. And another that embodies the Spirit of Emulation, which makes men jealous of the talents of their peers, instigating them to do well and better than the antagonists. As Hesiod rightly quotes, unveiling the funereal drape that covers her, Eris induces us to go beyond our limits.
In this process of perfectioning Eris moulds a Regeneration that conceives a Personal Metaphysical Consciousness which leads first to complete satisfaction and harmony and consequently to Ataraxia.
